Interview with K.T. Bryski
The Blog Ring of Power Presents...
An Interview with Author K.T. Bryski
Today I'm happy to welcome fantasy author K.T. Bryski on the Blog Ring of Power. This was one of those situations where a novel that was making the rounds on the blogosphere caught my eye and I reached out to the author. I love it when the author turns out to be super nice and I get to meet someone new. K.T. is here to tell us a bit about herself and her novel, Hapax. Feel free to leave a comment or ask K.T. a question below. When you're done here, pop on over to the other BRoP sites to read the rest of the interview.
BRoP: How long have you been writing?
K.T.: I’ve been making up stories for as long as I can remember. One of my most vivid early childhood memories is sitting at my dad’s computer when I was five or so. It was so old, it was basically a typewriter with a screen, but I used it to write some Scooby-Doo fanfic. I wrote stories on and off all through childhood, but I was fourteen when I decided to write with an eye to making an eventual career.
So really, about eight years.
BRoP: Tell us about your early works—what is the first thing you ever wrote?
K.T.: Besides the aforementioned Scooby-Doo fanfic, I wrote a lot of fantasy. One story featured a family of wolves going on an epic quest. Another revolved around two ferrets fighting an evil ferret god.
The first “book” I ever wrote was a 25,000ish piece about an opera singer in nineteenth century Paris. The history geek side of me winces now.
BRoP: What genre do you write?
K.T.: I primarily write fantasy, but I’ve dabbled in some science fiction and more historically-inspired fiction. I like jumping around all forms of storytelling as well: novels, short stories, plays, even an opera!
BRoP: What is your favourite genre/theme to write about?
K.T.: A lot of my stories seem to revolve around the idea of home: searching for that safe place, seeking out a family.
BRoP: If you couldn’t be an author, what would your ideal career be?
K.T.: I’m very lucky in that I love my dayjob: I work at a living history museum as a costumed interpreter. I’ve always loved history, and I’ve discovered that I could work in museums quite happily. Really, it’s another form of storytelling: which narrative of history are we constructing, how can we best communicate it, and how can we engage our audience with it?
What format is your book(s) available in (print, e-book, audio book, etc.)?
Hapax is available in print, e-book, and podcast forms.

HAPAX: The Apocalypse has come, and in seven days the world will be no more.
Only the Hapax, the Word which began the universe, can recreate the world and avert the Apocalypse, but that Word has been lost. Brother Gaelin finds his faith crumbling as he is forced to shelter two fugitives from the Magistatiem, the college of magi which has been divorced from the Ecclesiat monks for centuries.
As time slips away, the monks and magi must do more than just heal the ancient rift that divides them—they must trust in the very Being who drove them apart.
