Interview with Tracy Lane

The Blog Ring of Power Presents...
An Interview with Author Tracy Lane
Today, we have fantasy author Tracy Lane on the Blog Ring of Power. I saw Tracy's Paranormal Properties popping up all over the internet on blog tour and was intrigued. I cold-contacted Tracy to invite her on the BRoP and she was gracious enough to agree! Yay! She's here today to tell us a little about herself.
This is part one of a five-part interview. Be sure to check out the other BRoP sites for the rest of the interview:
Part 2 @ T.W. Fendley - Thursday, July 25
Part 3 @ Emily LaBonte - Friday, July 26
Part 4 @ Sandra Ulbrich Almazon - Monday, July 29
Part 5 @ Vicki Lemp Weavil - Tuesday, July 30
BRoP: How long have you been writing?
Tracy: I started writing at a young age, just short stories to show my friends. Life got in the way after that, I was busy working and raising children. I didn’t start to seriously write until 2007.
BRoP: When and why did you begin writing?
Tracy: I began in 2007, my children were teenagers and didn’t need me as much. I felt alone and bored and wanted something to fill my time. I remembered how much I loved writing when I was younger and decided to try it again.
BRoP: Tell us about your early works—what was the first thing you ever wrote?
Tracy: Just short stories about my friends. I would make them do things they would not normally do in life. They really seemed to enjoy the stories.
BRoP: When did you first consider yourself a professional writer?
Tracy: When I had my contract for Paranormal Properties in hand. Until then I still was not sure I could make it as a writer.
BRoP: What books have most influenced your life?
Tracy: My favorite book of all time is A Wrinkle In Time. I read it several times as a child. That is when I decided I wanted to create worlds and characters to live in those worlds.
BRoP: What genre do you write?
Tracy: I love fiction. Young adult is what I would like to be known for. I have a list of about 8 more books that I want to write for young adults, and make them fun for all ages to be able to enjoy.
BRoP: What is your favorite theme/genre to write about?
Tracy: I have so many I just can’t pick one. I had a hard time choosing what I wanted to write about first. Once I started Paranormal Properties I had to make myself stay with it. It was so tempting to start another book but I knew if I did I may never finish one.
BRoP: What format is your book available in (print, e-book, audio book, etc.)?
Tracy: Paranormal Properties is available in print and e-book format.

TRACY LANE was fascinated with the paranormal when she was very young. She always felt like someone was around her even when she was alone. Those experiences inspired her to write a paranormal book where a teenager can see and hear ghosts and actually makes friends with one.
Tracy loved to write short stories in school and had always wanted to be a writer. But raising children and working jobs got in the way of indulging her passion of writing. Then she realized her children had grown up into teenagers and they didn't need her as much. She started toying with the idea of writing once again. So setting aside 5 to 10 minutes per day to write at least one page she thought she could end up with a book a year. Now Paranormal Properties is published and she still has a list of at least 8 more books to write. She doesn't think she'll be slowing down anytime soon.
