Top Ten Tuesday: 2014 Resolutions

Top Ten Tuesday is a great meme created by Jamie at The Broke and the Bookish that combines top ten lists and books. She’s come up with a great list of weekly discussion topics and I hope you’ll join in the discussion by commenting on this post or some of the other ones (you can find the list of participating blogs in this week's Top Ten Tuesday post on her site).

This week’s topic is Top Ten Goals/Resolutions for 2014.

Let me start by saying that I don’t make resolutions…the universe and my brain instantly sabotage me as soon as I do. I resolve to lose weight and suddenly all I crave is junk food and/or life gets insanely busy and I can’t get to the grocery store to buy healthy food. I resolve to exercise more and I suddenly need knee or foot surgery. That sort of thing.

So, having said that, here are my goals for 2014, which I WILL accomplish if the universe stays out of my way :-)

This and That Thursday - Books From My TBR Pile

ThisAndThatThursday1

Welcome to my first post for a new feature, This and That Thursday (created by me). This and That Thursday is a new weekly meme in which writers pick two books that match the week’s theme (you can see a list of all the upcoming topics here) and discuss them, comparing/contrasting the handling of the material from whatever angle they want.

This week’s topic is Books on My To Be Read (TBR) List.

Our last TTT of 2013 - awww :-( I kind of didn’t know how to answer this week’s TTT – I mean, after all, I want Santa to bring me ALL the books on my TBR list (all 186 of them). :p So I’m going with the top ten twelve books I most want to read of those on my TBR list.

Top Ten Tuesday: New to Me Authors of 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is a great meme created by Jamie at The Broke and the Bookish that combines top ten lists and books. This week’s topic is Top Ten New to Me Authors Read in 2013.

I used to always stick to my favorite authors--mostly the classics (Dickens, Austen, Bronte, etc.) and since becoming an author I've definitely branched out, reading more contemporary authors. That, combined with the fact that in the latter half of 2013, I've made a concerted effort to get my TBR pile under control, means that in 2013 I've definitely read lots of new to me authors. I gave myself a little pat on the back when I was compiling this list!
